How could my eBay sales be subject to my taxes?

Clarify this topic with your tax adviser, because it depends on several factors.
For example, according to Russian legislation, the difference between the purchase cost and the selling cost will be taxed if there are supporting documents and goods in possession for not more than 3 years. The tax rate depends on the seller status: individuals must pay 13 percent income tax, the tax liabilities of a legal entity or sole proprietor can be varied and depend on the selected tax system.

Can I customize my seller profile via eBаymag?

No, you can't. You can create and customize your eBay seller profile via the eBay.com interface.

We recommend that each seller creates an attractive and informative profile that promotes you as a seller and provides information about your goods and services. It will help you attract buyers and develop your business. To edit a profile, go to the profile page by typing ebay.com/usr/LOGIN in the address bar or by clicking the link to your login in the upper left corner of the main eBay website. When the profile is ready, click the Done Editing button.

Make the most of your profile page. Invest some time in editing and customizing your profile. It could lead to an increase in the number of potential buyers.

What are the eBay seller fees? When should I pay?

Sellers are charged two basic fees when listing an item on eBay.

1. Insertion fees.
These are fees for placing an item for sale on eBay.
This category includes:

  • ‍fees for a listing posting
  • ‍fees for listing upgrades (e.g. for automatic relisting)

Insertion fees are charged to your seller account at the time of listing. Insertion fees are calculated differently depending on the category of the item and the selling format you choose.

2. Final value fees
These fees will be charged when a buyer makes a commitment to buy an item.
Final value fees depend on an item category, the price of the item and the place of publishing. The fees are calculated on the total amount of the sale and are charged per item (the total amount of the sale includes the final price of the item, shipping charges, and any other amounts you may charge the buyer).
The seller is charged two basic eBay fees. Here you can see how basic fees are calculated.

In addition to these fees, eBay sellers may be charged other fees, for example, PayPal fees, seller tool fees and so on. Fee calculator helps you get an estimate of total fees for your listing.

Remember, each regional eBay site has its own fees policy. Please review it when posting a listing on a regional eBay site.
The fees of each regional eBay site will be included in your monthly invoice. To find your invoices, click My eBay at the top of most eBay pages. Then click the Account tab. Next, select an invoice from the Invoices drop-down menu, and then click the Go button.

Here you can find detailed information on how you may pay your selling fees.

What listings can I create and publish via eBaymag?

eBaymag is a tool that helps you post listings on regional eBay sites.
eBaymag allows you to publish listings that meet all the laws of the country of the regional site and comply with eBay Rules & Policies.

However, the rules of a regional eBay site in a particular country (for example, on the ebay.de, ebay.it, etc.) may slightly differ from the rules of the global ebay.com site. In this case, the rules of the regional site where you published the listing are applied. Legal restrictions for selling items on different regional sites can be found here.

There are eBaymag general listings requirements:

  • ‍Fixed price format (not auction)
  • ‍Positive price of items (price cannot be less than $1)
  • ‍Positive quantity at least of one item variation (you cannot publish a listing of an item that has been sold out)
  • ‍Fixed shipping cost to the buyer's country

I'm trying to create a listing, but it isn't posted. Why?

If you can not list an item please check the following possible reasons:

  • you did not click the Sell button
  • ‍you've reached your account limit (please, contact Customer Service to request higher selling limits)
  • ‍we could not find a proper category for your item on the regional site (in this case, please try choosing it manually)
  • ‍the offered shipping option contravenes the rules of the regional site, or does not have a fixed price (in this case, we recommend you select the Shipping Policy created with the eBaymag tools)
  • ‍there is not enough item information available (please fill in the item template)
  • ‍the added item information cannot be converted into a format suitable for posting on the site (you need to check and the correct item description to post the listing)

You have probably added it to the Archive.
To verify listings in the Archive, do the following:

I want to edit a listing. Where can I do this?

Sometimes you may need to edit your listing.

Please bear in mind that all the listings that were created and posted via eBaymag can also be edited via eBaymag. eBaymag will not save the listing editings that were made via eBay.

How can I correctly fill in an item template when creating a listing manually?

When you create your listing, complete these item specifics in the item template:

  • ‍title and subtitle
  • ‍item description
  • ‍item condition
  • ‍item attributes
  • ‍item variations

Title and subtitle.
In the title and subtitle field, name your item in an honest, clear and informative way. Specify its name, use descriptive keywords. Include the item's brand name, artist, or designer. Try to use words, that help the buyer find your listing by using the eBay Search option (for example, use the word "T-shirt" instead of "singlet").

Item description.
In this field, specify information on the item: size, shape, color, production date, country of origin, important features, and markings. Specify the delivery set and describe the item's packaging.

Item condition.
Select the condition of your item from the Condition drop-down menu.
In the Condition description field, provide additional details about the item’s condition, such as whether it has defects, missing parts, scratches, or other wear and tear. Describe item's defects or damages as well as whether the item requires service or repair in order to function properly.

Item attributes.
In the Item attributes field, you can add key characteristics of an item that will appear in a listing in the Item attributes section. You should not repeat words or use synonyms, otherwise eBaymag will try to unite them as one attribute.
To add an additional attribute in an item template write it in the Attributes field and click the Add new value.

Item variations.
Add all the variation details for the item that you list. For example, a t-shirt might come in multiple colors and sizes. You should also provide  item numbers and codes, the quantity and price of items so buyers can choose the variation that they want to buy.

In addition to this, while creating a listing you should select the following from the drop-down lists:

  • ‍the language of the original listing
  • ‍item condition
  • ‍upload item photos

Why do I need to archive listings? What is the difference between listing archiving and listing deleting?

Archiving a listing.
eBaymag let you archive a listing. However, you don't delete it, but temporarily hide it from the list. So you have only actual listings that are in stock.

To archive a listing go to the item template and click the Archive Product button.

To access archived listings:

  • ‍click the Search button (the search box is below the eBay for business logo on the Stock tab)
  • ‍then select Yes opposite to Archived
  • ‍then click the Find button

To withdraw a listing from the archive, you should specify the quantity of the selling item in the listing and click the Restore the Item button.

Deleting a listing.
If you decide to delete a listing, you cannot restore it anymore.

To delete a listing, go to the item template and click the Delete Product button.

Please note: you can only delete drafts that were never posted on eBay.

Will my listings remain active on eBay after I turn eBaymag off?

If you don't want to delete all your listings at the same time by turning eBaymag off, just do not move the slider in the Delete all items from eBay option. In this case, you will only turn eBaymag off, all your listings will remain active.

How long does it take from clicking the eBaymag Publish button until a listing is posted on the global or regional eBay site?

The creation of a listing on the site may take some time. From creation to the publishing a listing on the global eBay site takes up to 10 minutes on average, and on a regional site - up to 15 minutes.
If the listing was not published after this time period, please, check:

  • ‍whether you have clicked the Sell button (if not, click it)
  • ‍whether you have reached your selling limits (if you have, please, contact the Support Service to request higher selling limits)

Besides this, perhaps:

  • ‍we could not find a proper category for your item on the regional site (in this case, please try choosing it manually)
  • ‍the offered shipping option contravenes the rules of the regional site, or does not have a fixed price (in this case, we recommend you select the Shipping Policy created with the eBaymag tools)
  • ‍there is not enough item information available (please, fill in the item template)
  • the added item information cannot be converted into a format suitable for posting on the site (you need to check and correct the item description to post the listing)
  • ‍your PayPal account for receiving payments  is not active (please, sign up for PayPal)
  • ‍the method of eBay payment via PayPal is incorrect (please, select the correct option in PayPal payments)

eBaymag publishes listings only if they can be adapted to the regional site item showcase and meet all the rules and restrictions.
Pop-up tips will help you. Please, pay attention to them, they will help you understand how to improve your listing for successful publishing.

The listing I published via eBaymag is removed. Why?

A listing that was published via eBaymag, can be removed for several reasons:

  • ‍it violates one of eBay's policies
  • it violates an eBay regional site's policies where you were going to post it
  • ‍the item's rights owner (for example, Coach or Louis Vuitton) asked us to remove it. (according to eBay policy, the intellectual property rights owners can ask eBay to remove certain listings that offer items or contain materials that infringe on their intellectual property rights. These rights can include trademark, copyright, and/or other legal rights)
  • ‍another seller has the rights to sell such an item (authorized distributor, for example)
  • ‍we've received a message warning that your listing did not comply with eBay policies

When your listing is removed, you'll receive an email notifying you of the reasons. Also, you can see the reasons for listing removal as a notification above the page.

What should I add to the Subtitle field? Why is this option paid?

Adding a subtitle to your listing can increase buyer interest by providing more descriptive information about an item.
You can add a subtitle in the listing form. Please note: this is a paid option on most regional eBay sites.

Include the following details:

  • ‍additional information about what you are selling (for example, the brand name, artist, designer, accessories, and options)
  • ‍information on item's characteristics that may be of interest to buyers

For example:
Title: Apple MacBook Air 13 notebook computer
Subtitle: CPU Intel Core i5, RAM 4 Gb, 128 GB HD

Keep in mind:

  • ‍subtitles are visible when buyers view search results in the List view (not in the Gallery view)
  • ‍subtitle text isn't searchable when buyers do a standard title search for items. However, the subtitle is searchable if a buyer includes the description in an advanced search

Why can't I create auction-style listings?

eBaymag technical limitations do not allow the creation of auction-style listings yet. We are going to add the function of duplicating auction-style listings in the near future.

Items, Selling and Shipping

What price should I set for my items?

You can set any market price for your items. However, in order for your listing to be competitive with the listings of other eBay sellers, follow these rules:

  • ‍do not set too high a price. Compare the prices of the same items that are currently active or have sold on eBay. It helps you analyze the market situation and set the optimal price
  • ‍do not set too low a price. Otherwise, you will have to offset it with an unreasonably high shipping price
  • include shipping cost to the item price at once. By doing so, you can add the Free delivery option to your listing and boost your listing search visibility

Setting an acceptable price, maintaining high seller ratings and offering low delivery costs will help improve your chances of attracting buyers.

What are selling limits (limits on eBay sellers)?

Selling limits (limits on eBay sellers) are  certain restrictions that eBay makes to control sales quality.

eBay has 3 types of limits on sellers:
1. Account limits.
They include a limit on sold items, gross merchandise volume, and active items for sale.

When you work via the eBaymag tool, you can use only one eBay account. You can check your account limits in My eBay.

For example, you have a monthly limit on the number of active listings. This number includes all the listings that you have created manually or automatically via eBaymag. If you are a successful seller and you reach the listings limit, write to us and we will consider increasing the limit. For the moment, you should decrease the number of active listings to the limit.
Please note, that deactivating listings via the eBay interface or via eBaymag does not give you the option to post additional listings within selling limits, because the limits include the number of posted listings per month, not the number of active listings on your account.

2. Category limits.
This is the limit on the number of items that can be listed in a calendar month in some categories.

3. Item limits.
These limits prohibit the listing of items which do not meet our requirements for quality, safety, and legality.

To increase the limits a seller should:

  • ‍have a positive history of buyer-seller relationships
  • ‍demonstrate the ability to meet buyers' requirements
  • ‍meet eBay selling policies

What is an item showcase? What items should I include in the item showcase?

Item showcase is a list of all the items that are available for sale via eBaymag listings on one or more regional sites. Showcases are created automatically after creating listings. Therefore, all the items that are available for sale will be included in the item showcase of a regional eBay site.

On the Sites tab you can see a list of all your item showcases, as well as active items, prepared for sale items, promoted and recommended for promoting items for each showcase.
To get to an item showcase of regional eBay site, please, click the Sites tab, then select the desired showcase in Site/Language column.

Why сreate a listing in bulk in .xlsx format?

eBaymag offers the option of adding multiple items to a table in Excel format.
It is quicker and more than manual listings if you have a large number of items.

To make a listing like this, click the Upload in bulk button.

Then:

  • download the file Template.xlsx from the Upload item window
  • ‍fill in the item information
  • ‍upload the file and click the Upload file button

Please note: Only new items will be added. For previously listed items, the price and the quantity of the remaining goods will be updated.

What is Shipping Policy?

To create a listing you need to create a Shipping Policy for it.

A Shipping Policy is a set of tariffs for the shipping of an item or group of items. The shipping profile also includes return policies and other information.

To create your Shipping Policy, go to the Shipping tab and click the Create Policy button on the right-hand side of the page. Then fill in the Shipping Policy template, specifying its name and selecting one or more tariffs. For your convenience, you can mark each Shipping Policy in different colors.

You can check by yourself in your Shipping Policy template whether the kind of shipping you require is possible for different regional sites. To do this, select the icons of the sites you are interested in below the words Check the result on each site. If the specified shipping is not possible according to the regional site rules, below the icons, you can see an explanation on that point.
There, you can also check a list of shipping exclusions.

When you have filled in all the fields and check the shipping, click the Save button.

What is a Shipping Tariff?

To create a Shipping Policy, you need to create at least one Shipping Tariff.
The Shipping Tariff describes the items shipping conditions, which are announced by the seller.

A Shipping Tariff includes:

  • ‍estimated delivery time (in days)
  • ‍delivery price

To create a new Shipping Tariff, on the Shipping tab go to Tariffs, then click the Create Tariff button on the right-hand side of the page. Then fill in the Shipping Tariff template. Once you're finished, click the Save button.

A Tariff can be assigned to a Shipping Policy immediately.

Regional Sites

Why were some countries added to a list of shipping exclusions?

Sometimes, when creating a listing, some countries are added to a list of shipping exclusions. The reason is that when copying listings, eBaymag automatically sets up the countries that regional eBay sites originally ship to as shipping exclusions.

What legal restrictions for listings posting do regional eBay sites have?

Legal restrictions on each regional eBay site can be found in Help & Contact department of the proper regional eBay site.

What are regional eBay sites exchange rates for the cost of my items?

When you post a listing via eBaymag, the exchange rates for regional sites are recalculated by Google Finance. In this case, if the exchange rate changes, the price is recalculated automatically (the price in italics will not be recalculated).

At the same time, you can set the price of items in the currency of a regional site by yourself. Keep in mind that if the price is set manually, it will remain fixed and will not be recalculated when the exchange rate changes.

I am having problems accepting PayPal payments. What should I do?

If you have a PayPal question, please contact PayPal Help Center or PayPal Customer Service.

What is the difference between Personal and Business PayPal accounts?

Business PayPal account differs from a Personal only in business status of its owner and more often, large transactions. You can register for a PayPal Business account only if you are a legal entity or sole proprietor.
The PayPal account type does not matter to using eBaymag.

Why should I link my eBay and PayPal accounts?

PayPal is a fast, easy, and secure way to accept credit card or bank account online payments, so PayPal is the preferred payment method for most eBay buyers and sellers. When you link your eBay and PayPal accounts you can:

  • send and receive payments securely online using a credit card or bank account
  • use PayPal's Label printing solution for eBay shipping labels and packing slips
  • have the option of automatically paying your eBay selling fees from your PayPal account

Linking your PayPal and eBay accounts takes about a minute. To do this:

  • ‍click My eBay at the top of most eBay pages
  • ‍click the Account tab
  • ‍f you don't already have a PayPal account, you can sign up by going to PayPal. If you already have a PayPal account, link it to your eBay account by clicking the Link My PayPal Account button; You'll be asked to log in to PayPal to finish linking your accounts

To inform your buyers that you can accept PayPal payments go to the Account tab, select Site Preferences and then Payment from buyers. Click the Edit button and then select Offer PayPal as a payment method in all my listings.
